LATi 2016 Showcase : From Earth to Space and Beyond …

Together with Loughborough University Science and Enterprise Park (LUSEP), LATi is to hold a major showcase event – in the building LATi held its first event in 1996 – the Sir Denis Rooke Building on Loughborough University Science and Enterprise Park on Monday, 24th October from 2:30 to 7 pm.
The theme ‘From Earth to Space and Beyond’ represents the strength and diversity of local businesses, who are involved in all aspects of science and technological innovation – from micropropagation to space engineering – and looks to the future of science and innovation.
To be held at the Sir Denis Rooke, on Loughborough University Science and Enterprise Park on the first day of Leicester Business Festival – from 2:30 – 7pm
The event, to be held on the first day of Leicester Business Festival aims to showcase the diversity of technology, science and engineering businesses in the UK East Midlands, including BioScience, Chemistry & Life Sciences, Design & Engineering, Information & Comms technologies, Materials, Space Science and Automotive sectors.
What will the world be like in twenty to thirty years from now?
When LATi was founded 20 years ago, the Internet was in its infancy. However, there were some dramatic advances in technology, life sciences and space science.

+ NEAR Shoemaker Spacecraft launched – landing on 433 Eros asteroid in 2001

Hear how our science past and science future is connected
Futurist, Christopher Barnatt is to give a talk at the LATi 2016 Showcase entitled ‘The Next Big Thing’, looking at developments in local digital manufacturing, AI, robotics, obtaining resources from space, and transhuman medical advances.
Christopher has published eleven books and numerous articles, including The Next Big Thing, 3D Printing, Seven Ways to Fix the World, and 25 Things You Need to Know about the Future. His writing addresses issues such as the challenges and technologies that will shape the future, creating a more sustainable future and digital manufacturing.
