LATi Data Security Knowledge Exchange @STEMLab

June 20 @ 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Data security Knowledge Exchange bannerGDPR Day – 25 May – has come and gone. But, it doesn’t end there.

The big question for high-tech and scientific enterprises that handle highly sensitive and commercially confidential data, is how to ensure you do everything in your power to keep critical data safe and secure.

Cyber and data crime is rife. Your enterprise – every enterprise – is at risk. But there are steps you can take to prepare, plan and counter the risks.

“A significant proportion of online crime and fraud is preventable by following simple rules both for business, and indeed our personal lives.”

Talks will cover the essentials you need to know:

  • The most prevalent risks and frauds facing businesses.
  • What criminals do with data and why they go to extraordinary lengths to steal your data.
  • Ways criminals use breached sets of data and how to prevent from happening.
  • Where the vulnerabilities are and how to protect your business from cyber crime.
  • How to defend yourself from scams, phishing and cyber attacks.
  • How to strengthen your defences against Zero Day attacks, Phishing, Trojans amd CryptoLockers.
  • How to protect your computer equipment from Remote Attack.
  • How to prevent attacks before they reach your PC.
  • Tools available to secure your data and your business, including free tools.
  • How as businesses and individuals we can keep ourselves safer online.

The LATi Data Security Knowledge Exchange is to be held at Loughborough University STEMLab on Wednesday, 20th May from 1pm to 6pm, allowing time for networking and an opportunity to tour the impressive new STEMLab building.

An exceptional line-up of speakers: Microsoft, WatchGuard, e92plus, Bitdefender, and Leicestershire Police.

“Privacy and Security is all about data in its many forms. Technology only deals with a fraction of the solutions we need to safely secure and store our data. Our approach to data, how we treat and handle it, how we think of it, and how we work with it … all needs to change.”
