The LATi Data Security Knowledge Exchange is to be held at Loughborough University STEMLab on Wednesday, 20th May from 1pm to 6pm, allowing time for networking and an opportunity to tour the impressive new STEMLab building.

2-30pm – 3:10pm: Liam Martin (Bitdefender) – Overview of Virus Scanning Endpoint Protection technology, and how the Cloud is used to strengthen your defences against Zero Day Attacks, Phishing, Trojans and CryptoLockers.
3.15pm – 3.55pm: A tour of the Loughborough University STEMLab building.
4pm – 4:40pm: Mike Pencavel (WatchGuard) – How Next Generation Hardware Firewalls can be deployed to protect your computer equipment from Remote Attack and prevent attacks before they reach your PC.
4:45pm – 5:25pm: Phil Winstanley (Microsoft) – The ways in which criminals can use breached sets of data and what you can do to help prevent this from happenning.
5.30pm – 6pm: Q&A and Networking
Peter Gallagher is a LATi board member, Public Speaker and Software Engineer with decades of experience in the industry. Pete can often be found speaking at technical events across the midlands.
Phil Winstanley – Cyber Security Specialist – Microsoft
Phil is a Cyber consultant at Microsoft who works to keep their customers safe and secure, he’s worked across many sectors from the high threat club of Defence and National Security through to National Critical Infrastructure and into Finance and Media. Outside of his day job Phil is a Special Officer with the UK National Crime Agency (NCA) where he works to disrupt and prevent serious and organised crime.
Mike Pencavel – Channel Account Manager – WatchGuard
Mike has 15 years experience of working with clients and partners in protecting business network infrastructures. He is responsible for overseeing the development and management of the company’s Partners and assisting the Channel in making the most of their partnership with WatchGuard.
Priscilla van Esch – Product Manager – e92plus
Priscilla has over over 25 years experience in security, wireless and data protection technologies. e92plus are an award winning, value added distributor. The company specialises in security, wireless, virtualisation and data protection solutions, and have a proven track record in bringing the latest innovations and technology to market.
Liam Martin – UK Sales Engineering – Bitdefender
Liam Martin is experienced in helping Enterprise customers to secure both physical and virtual endpoints protecting against Advanced Persistent Threats, assisting customers through concept to implementation across solutions such as Anti-Malware, Advanced Threat Control, Application Whitelisting, Patch Management and Device Control.
Samantha Hancock – Cyber Protect Officer – Leicestershire Police
Samantha Hancock is Leicestershire Police’s Cyber Protect Officer. Her remit is to raise awareness of Cybercrime, Fraud & Scams to local businesses, organisations and community groups. Her background is that of traditional, physical crime prevention.

Loughborough University is one of the UK’s leading centres of excellence for teaching Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The new STEMLab has been created to provide state-of-the-art learning facilities for their students covering most of their Science and Engineering disciplines on campus.
