The EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Embedded Intelligence, the first of its kind in Europe, is being run in partnership by Heriot-Watt and Loughborough universities and funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), who see Embedded Intelligence, as one of the key strategic areas of research and development in the UK for the next 10 years. Embedded Intelligence uses sensors and data processing to enable a product, process or service to reflect on its own performance and is seen in many devices in industry and even in home appliances, like smart energy monitoring systems.

Products and Services:

The 4-year PhD programme includes the technical areas of design, packaging and integration, production solutions, systems performance and data and information. Research is complemented by impact activities delivered through sponsored industrial projects and personal development training to create effective, enterprising researchers and managers.
